About

I had an interest in drawing work ever since I was at school and watched my grandfather create building plans for his business.

At 17, I started my first job at BT in 1988 working as a junior drawing office assistant. This was back in the day when everything was done on drawing boards where I was an employee learning and developing the core skills of my trade for 8 years until redundancy in 1996.

As the industry was developing and adapting to the digital world AutoCAD was starting to lead the way for experienced drawing staff. Due to the demand for this new industry technology. I decided to enrol on an evening course at college to add this as a new key skill and so I swiftly gained a City & Guilds qualification.

Having gained further experience, I soon started a new role at Resource Environmental Services in 1997. I worked firstly on the drawing boards and gradually transitioned onto AutoCAD where I worked on electrical and mechanical services drawings. My day to day was spent preparing these drawings for various clients working on; shop fit outs, schools, offices and Vodafone exchanges.

Unfortunately in 2007 redundancy beckoned again but I was fortunate enough to walk straight into a job at Kier with help from my loyal contacts built up over 9 years at Resource. Starting at Kier Consultancy, I worked on prestigious residential properties and modern office developments for clients such as Segro and Goodman. Progression led to working on local authority projects such as academy’s, hospitals and laboratories.  Other business consisted of creating shell and core drawings for mixed office/retail developments.

After 13 years at Kier with a wealth of knowledge, experience, skills and years of success, I took the appropriate move into self-employment. Building up an extensive list of private clients over several years has enabled me to create a better work life balance of which further aids my new customer base with flexibility and provides them with a superior group of ‘DY Projects’ approved industry experts when collaboration is required.

I very much enjoy producing neat, organised and clear drawings and pride myself on a timely turnaround. I use layers as much as possible, so individual services can be switched on and off as required giving the customer clarity and further control within video production for large scale portfolios.
